Profile of the BayWa Group
BayWa is a group with worldwide operations in the core competencies of trading, logistics and supplementary services in its three operating segments Agriculture, Energy and Building Materials and the Innovation & Digitization development segment. The head office of the parent company, which was founded in 1923, is located in Munich. The international activities focus on Europe as well as on the US and New Zealand.

The Agriculture Segment provides a wide variety of trading and other services for the agricultural and food industry. The range of services includes the international trade and logistics of selected agricultural commodities, as well as the sale of operating resources and feedstuffs. BayWa covers the entire value chain, from the field to the marketing of produce, making it one of the leading European trading companies with a global reach.

Focus Fruit Business Unit

BayWa is the largest supplier of pome fruit to German retailers and is active in global fruit trading via its holding in New Zealand’s Turners & Growers. The Fruit business is one of BayWa’s most internationally oriented business segments. Whether it’s August or February, somewhere in the world a BayWa apple is always being harvested. In Germany, BayWa’s Fruit business unit is a leading supplier of dessert fruit to the food retail industry, the largest single seller of dessert pome fruit and the largest supplier of organic pome fruit. The Group company T&G Global, along with the subsidiary Apollo Apples Ltd, is the market leader in pome fruit in New Zealand and has international trading links to the Asian markets, Europe, Australia and the Americas, making BayWa one of the most important global suppliers in the international pome fruit trade. By expanding its portfolio in the growth market for exotic speciality fruits through its subsidiary Tropical Fruit Company, in particular in the "ready-to-eat" sector, BayWa is strengthening its position as a leading international supplier of exotic and pome fruit.
In 2017, the company has tied up with the Abu Dhabi-based Al Dahra Holding LLC, a leading international agribusiness company, to set up a ground-breaking project in the UAE. The new entity, Al Dahra BayWa Agriculture LLC, will operate in the production of premium vegetables like tomatoes using latest greenhouse technologies as well as in the marketing of produce.

Trading activities for conventional − primarily fossil − energy carriers and the Renewable Energies business unit are pooled in the
Energy Segment. In its conventional energy business, BayWa predominantly sells heating oil, fuels, lubricants and wood pellets in southern Germany and Austria. This business unit has a strong international focus, and its core markets are found in Europe and the United States, with future emphasis on South-East Asia and Australia.

The Building Materials Segment covers the entire range of products and solutions for building materials – from civil engineering, construction, renovation and modernization to gardening and landscaping and even energy solution packages. Digital offerings are bolstering bricks-and-mortar shops more and more by providing fresh momentum and additional sales channels.

By creating its own development segment called Innovation & Digitization, BayWa is not only taking account of the momentum in this field, but also underscoring the strategic importance of digitization for the entire company. Digital activities are pooled in the Innovation & Digitization Segment, which is also where progress is made on further developments. The focus is currently on projects being carried out in the fields of smart farming and e-business. Digital Farming is geared towards the development and marketing of digital solutions for agriculture.
